In an unprecedented move, North Korea showed for the first time on Friday (September 13) photos of the centrifuges that produce fuel for the country's nuclear bombs.

In the photos, it appears that the leader of north korea's Kim Jong-un, visited a uranium enrichment
center and asked for more production of nuclear material to increase the country's weapons capability.

North Korea's nuclear program has been banned by several UN Security Council resolutions.

In picture released, the North Korean leader can be seen walking between long rows of centrifuges.
the report did not say when and where this visit took place.

North Korea's leader asked the staff of the of the facility to produce additional materials for tactical
nuclear weapons that the country's nuclear weapons are needed to counter threats from the United States and its allies.

He stressed that these weapons are necessary for "self-defence and aggression"

It is believed that North Korea has several uranium enrichment sites.

"The new type of centrifuges shows that North Korea is making progress in its nuclear development capabilities," said Ankit Panda of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

North Korea invited a number of foreign scientists to tour the centrifuge facility at Yongbyon in 2010, but Friday's report is said to have released the first and only photos of the equipment.

Estimates of the number of North Korean nuclear weapons vary widely, but a recent estimate puts the number of foreign nuclear warheads at 50, with enough material to produce another 40.

Two years ago, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said that the main goal of the country is to become the largest nuclear power in the world.

Mr. Kim made these statements on the eve of the final test of the largest ballistic missile in the history of North Korea and during the promotion ceremony of dozens of army officers.

He threatened that if America uses nuclear weapons, they will not stop using nuclear weapons.
